Excerpt from Brie Embraces the Heart of Submission:
The
drive home was agreeably quiet. Sir seemed as satisfied by the night’s events
as she was. It pleased Brie that he had openly acknowledged his feelings for
her in front of Marquis. Although Sir hadn’t used the L word, the meaning was
the same. She assumed it was a big step for him.
The
night still had one pleasant surprise left. After they returned to the
apartment, Sir told her to work on editing her film while he polished a
presentation he was to give the next day.
They sat
on the couch beside each other with their computers. It was so pleasant and
sweet that Brie decided to google something she’d been curious about. Sir had
once told her that he was a condor, and said it with such tenderness that she
knew it held significance to him. She typed in the word ‘condor’.
Brie
glanced over the stats of the bird, noting that she had been right. They were a
type of vulture—not sexy in the least. However, the California condor was the
largest bird in North America. It wasn’t until she got to the behavior of the
creature that she finally grasped Sir’s meaning. She was surprised to learn the
birds lived to be incredibly old—like fifty to sixty years—and the males waited
until they were sexually mature before picking a female. Her heart skipped a
beat when she read the words, ‘condors mate for life’. That was what he’d
meant!
‘I’m a
condor’ had to be the most romantic thing she’d ever heard.
She
glanced at Sir, hardly able to contain her joy.
He
looked up from his screen and smiled. “What?”
“You’re
a condor, Sir.”
He
raised his eyebrow. “Yes, I am.”
She
smiled shyly. “I’m a condor, too.”
what a great ornament. I assisted a fellow recycler with unloading their very full car.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine is having to live abroad because she can't get the medical help she needs here in Norway. This I know is sad for her, to not be able to be home for the December holidays. I sent her a message today to let her and her love know that I'm thinking of them both.
ReplyDeleteI was in Wal-Mart and a grandma was looking for tights for her grandkids for Christmas she couldn't find a Wal-Mart worker to show her where they were so I helped her find them and the sizes she needed..
ReplyDeleteI work in bars (I'm not bar staff, the company I work for does promotions in the bars)... anyway last night there was a girl who was so intoxicated that she was having a hard time standing up...
ReplyDeleteShe actually was starting to fall backwards into the street...
I stopped her just in time so she wouldn't get hit by a car...
(I added this as my good deed for TODAY, it was around 1am when this happened.)
Its -6 with the wind chill -13 here. I seen my elderly neighbor out trying to dig out her car since she has not moved it since it snowed earlier this week. I went out to help her , she said she needed to go to the store for some things. I sent her back inside dug out her car. Had her make a list so I could go for her. She was very touched, cried. It warms my heart to do things like that. She really had no business going out in this weather. I'm just glad I seen her out there this morning.
ReplyDeleteI helped packing the childrens gift boxes at one of our local churches.
ReplyDeleteI was in a dollar store and a church group was making boxes for homeless (basic needs) and were short on funds. I reached in and gave them 20 dollars to help with the great deed they are doing for the community. I always say it is good to pay forward at this time of year.

My friend had a stroke over the summer and has a hard time seeing, so my husband and I bought her the computer program Dragon so she can type on the computer just by speaking and gave it to her anonymously.
ReplyDeleteWhile at Starbucks this morning, there was an elderly gentleman behind me. I paid for my order, then told the cashier that I was stepping to the side but paying for what the gentleman behind me was ordering. He gave his order and the cashier said Sir your bill is taken care of by this lady. He blinked in surprise at me and then I received the most gorgeous smile of thanks! Absolutely made my day!
ReplyDeletei smiled graciously as the lady at walmart who rang up our items, was so rude,dropping our items and not even acknowledging we were there, oh i was too nice and i made sure she saw that so that could hopefully melt her little black heart......
ReplyDeleteI try to do something nice everyday. Whether its just helping someone at work who is behind, and needs a breather, or simply saying a nice word, or give a hug to someone having a bad day....
ReplyDeleteThe lady in front of me at the supermarket this morning was $2.00 short for her purchase so I paid it for her.
ReplyDeleteMaster and I bought some food for a stray dog running around the truck stop. Also had to stop at a walmart and gave a money to 2 little kids to ride the toys while mom was checking out. Mom looked a little frazzled, felt like I gave her a couple minute reprieve. And sometimes thats all a mom needs.
ReplyDeleteMy next door neighbor is 94 years old and lives with her son, but he works all day so I go check on her and I always bring her breakfast or lunch!
ReplyDeleteI'm a dialysis RN, every day is a challenge. These people don't get Holidays off.
ReplyDeleteI constantly go above & beyond to help everyone around me.
ReplyDelete~I help my elderly & physically challenged parents all of the time (I live with them to help them).
~I help my younger sister out every day. She's mentally & physically challenged. I live with her & she's extremely challenging in so many ways but I try to show her unconditional love & affection all the time.
~My daughter has psychiatric issues that require extra attention & love. The hardest part that I struggle with is setting boundaries. I want to help her so much that I can be too nice. I must not clip her wings but allow her to soar.
~My husband does not "get" any type of technology & HATES making calls or doing anything involving paperwork. I just completed HOURS of work for him on the computer. I am his personal assistant, therapist, friend & lover.
~I work in the Mental Health field with young adults who have been traumatized by life. I give them unconditional love, support, affection, guidance, counseling & boundaries. I teach them that with thoughts & feelings, anything goes. But actions have consequences & so must be controlled.
~I always compliment people, friends, family & strangers. If I think someone is beautiful, I tell them. If they are good at their job, I tell them. We all benefit from being positive.
I LOVE the feeling I get when I make someone feel good about themselves. It makes me feel good about myself.
Todà y the only thing i could do as we had 11" of snow and am snowbound was to.let a depressed friend know I loved her and i forwarded info abt a lost dog on facebook. I did recently surprise a friend who was homesick and depressed with an amazon gift card so she could buy herself something to read, in english. :-) i don't really feel like i did anything special though, so i don't expect to win. I do hope today's contest brought a little more joy into the world today.
ReplyDeleteI shared my lunch w/ a co-worker who is a struggling college student, works part time and helps local,pet charities! She was so worn out and hungry, so I shared. Made her day!
ReplyDeleteI have 4 motorcycles and there is a gentleman that lives down the street from me he is in a motorized wheelchair and from what he has said in past conversations he use to ride. But now he is missing part of a foot and cannot walk. He has been admiring my Boss Hoss Trike (350 Chevy/400 hp) so today when I came home from work he was coming down the street so I stopped to talk with him and he was saying he wished he could ride again. So I asked him to hold on a minute. I parked my streetglide and pulled the big boy out of the garage and got him up on her and we rode. He actually had tears in his eyes and couldn't thank me enough. I said No Worries just glad he enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteWas in the mist of family trying to get through my Dad death... So to help out I made a crock pot of meatballs, a cake, dips w/chips, veggie platter & dip and cheese & cracker platter... Kept me busy so my Mom could rest and get family support.
ReplyDeleteI took my son shopping for his birthday. I had him pick out a couple toys to donate to Toys To Share.
ReplyDeleteI was grocery shopping and assisted some elderly shoppers with different things. I also fed a couple of stray cats that have adopted me :)

ReplyDeleteI was in the line at Walmart, where there was a older gentleman who was trying to not go over his money limit he stated that he just paid for his medicines and left him short on money for groceries I told the clerk to ring up everything and I will make up the difference he was truly grateful and said living on a budget is hard but through prayers and god he is always blessed with an Angel. Made my day.

ReplyDeleteI went to the little store by my house a little while ago. There is a homeless man that sits out in front of the laundry mat next to the store all the time. Occasionally he will ask for some change to get something to eat at the store. When I went into the store to get my items, I bought him a sub sandwich, chips and an apple juice to have for lunch. When I was giving it to him, people in the laundry mat came out and said I was crazy and just giving him a reason to continue loitering. I told them that he is a human being and has obviously fallen onto hard time and that even he deserves to have a decent meal.
ReplyDeleteLet's see.... A dear friend of mine lost his wallet & in that wallet was the money he was going to spend on his 2 kids for Christmas. I sent him $150 to help with his gift giving, knowing that he would NEVER ask me for help.
ReplyDeleteWhen I went to Starbucks yesterday the barista told me the car ahead of me paid for my coffee, so I paid for the car behind me. She told me I was the 15th car that had done that today. It's nice to know there are that many people where I live willing to be generous.
